Hey Young World, Africa is the future!

African students engaged in learning representing the future potentials of the continent

The global map has been updated and now the world can see more clearly just how large Africa really is.

With a consumer market expected to reach 2.4 billion people by 2050, massive infrastructure investment taking place across the continent, and a significant specialty insurance protection gap, the opportunity is enormous.

Across Africa, countries will continue to create new economic activity, and with it, new insurance needs: homes, businesses, trade, infrastructure, healthcare, energy, agriculture and so much more!

This is an exciting time for young people to enter the insurance industry and build careers.

As African economies become more sophisticated through infrastructure investment, industrialization and the growth of value-added industries, the need for professionals who understand risk will only increase. There will be tremendous opportunities for young talent to learn, contribute and grow.

Investment in talent is one of the most important drivers of economic growth. Every public and private institution should have a deliberate strategy for developing and advancing young people.

Because when we say Africa has a bright future, we are really saying Africa’s youth have a bright future.

At EmergeSpecialty, we understand the importance of investing in the next generation and cultivating new insurance and risk management talent.

In 2027, we plan to launch our Emerging Leaders Program, with a curriculum focused on developing specialist knowledge across industries aligned with the development priorities of African countries. Further information will be shared early next year.

As industry practitioners, it is our responsibility to make insurance relevant, accessible and attractive to the next generation.

The industry has so much to offer. From underwriting and broking to actuarial, claims, risk management, analytics and beyond, insurance provides a wide range of disciplines through which young professionals can learn, contribute and build meaningful careers.

There will be no African economic transformation without insurance and risk management.

And as the continent expands, industrializes and builds for the future, we will need a new generation of specialty insurance professionals who understand Africa, understand its industries, and are prepared to help de-risk its growth.

Africa is the future. And the future needs you.
